Daddy issues in the Office

Daddy issues can be very visible in the office too, so I am giving you some  red flags that you might have a boss with a potential daddy issues.

 What can be the signals that you have a boss with daddy issue?

1.        He treats you as a kid.

2.        He shows over /controlling and over/ monitoring on your job tasks.

3.        The employee can be punished for the mistakes he/she makes.

Women are especially vulnerable to the father-daughter dynamic at work because of the way they were socialized and (still-present) gender stereotyping. More likely to be “pleasers” who seek approval from an authority figure.

These  are the signals for a boss with daddy issues but let’s see

What can be the behaviour parameters for an employee especially female with such daddy issues.

1.She is hypersensitive towards critics and comments from her boss.

2. She is ready to be people pleaser in many aspects of her job in order to get the required appraisal.

3. She enter very easily in the dynamic daughter- father and she feels more comfortable in that dynamic at the work place.

 

How can we avoid and prevent this dynamic:

  1. Set healthy boundaries.

  2. Respect the ton and the way of communication.

  3. Keep a healthy and adult level of communication.

  4. Self-respect and self-awareness

  5. Aware the situation from here and now but not from then and the past

  6. Revert to a HR team or People Communication Manager in the Company.

  7. Read an appropriate literature or materials
